MicroStream training in 2023

Also in 2023, we continue to provide you with MicroStream training in collaboration with JAVAPRO magazine.

But the format and the structure will be slightly adapted this year in comparison with last year.

We have opted now for shorter, 4h online training and we have 3 different types of training. That way, we can focus better on the experience and the background of the participants and cover the topics more efficiently.

Fundamentals

In this fundamentals course, which is still provided for free, we introduce you to all the fundamental principles that are needed to create an application where data is managed by MicroStream. After explaining the concepts, we have several hands-on exercises where you will set up, configure, perform CRUD-style operations, and make use of the Lazy loading functionality.

No prior knowledge about MicroStream is required to be able to follow this course. Java knowledge is assumed and if you want to code the exercises with us, you should have an environment with Java, Maven, and an IDE of your preference installed.

Advanced 1

In this advanced course, we build on the knowledge we gathered during the Fundamentals training. So you should either have some basic knowledge of MicroStream already or you have followed the fundamentals training.

We cover some more advanced aspects that you probably need when coding real-world projects with MicroStream. The following topics are discussed in this training

  • Creating an advanced configuration of the MicroStream storage
  • Creating proper data structures for eager and lazy data handling
  • Usage of Lazy Collections
  • Usage of ‘transactions’ and ‘rollbacks’ with MicroStream
  • Create a proper backup strategy for the storage
  • How to handle classes within MicroStream if its data structure changes
  • Using ClientGUI to see data inside the storage

This course is not provided for free but costs a small amount of money.

Advanced 2

In this second advanced course, we cover a few topics, that not everyone needs, but can be helpful in many situations. The course does not continue where we left off with the advanced 1 course. So you can follow this one without any issue if you have already some basic knowledge of MicroStream. The criteria if a topic was handled in the advanced 1 or 2 training is the fact that almost all projects can benefit from it or only some.

These are the topics we cover

  • Configuration of a Cloud or database storage target.
  • Concurrency handling within MicroStream applications
  • An exploration of the housekeeping processes of MicroStream
  • Usage of the Storage and Channel migration tool
  • Custom and Legacy Type Handlers
  • Export and Import the data.

This course is not provided for free but costs a small amount of money.
